Fishery Managers Report, September 2008
Great news from the River Dove, a friend of Richard Duka reports a 15-2 Barbel, which is a new best for the SOTAS stretch. Chub are showing well on both stretches with Grayling, Roach and bonus Brownies falling to maggot whilst trotting or feeder fishing.
Rudyard is fishing well, open matches very popular with weights of 20lb to frame. One of the members reported losing a very big Pike at the net.
Stanley fishing very well for Roach and Bream and several double figure Pike to 19lb reported. A recent work party has made a significant improvement clearing the self setting trees from around the waters edge including in the little pool.
Redesmere Bream continue to show with several members reporting doubles to 13-8. Two different members have reported catching 2lb+ Roach on boilies whilst Carping. On the Carp front unconfirmed reports to me of a few new thirty Commons and Mirrors coming out recently. No sign of the Snub Common, though a number of experienced regulars have reported witnessing its enormous bulk rolling.
Capesthorne Main Pool very slow for Carp though one member managed three in a session including two twenties one of which was the Big Common at 28-14.However, the silver fish are showing in abundance to Pole, feeder or waggler tactics. Jack Pike still problematical, so two matches will be organised on 2 and 23 November for controlled removal and transfer to Redesmere.
Top pool very moody with many Carp anglers braving the conditions for little return.
Bolesworth reports thin on the ground at this time other than Carp.
Ellenhall complex catch rates have dropped since the heavy rains, though still worth a visit for pleasure catches of mixed species for over forty pounds.
