Bolesworth Castle - Water Profile

Situated on a private estate this 12-acre lake is about 1 mile long and 50 yards wide. Set in beautiful idyllic grounds, overlooked by Bolesworth Castle this lake is typical Mr. Crabtree with its lily pads and tree-fringed bank. It is a classic float-fishing venue. Much of the lake at the car park end is densely wooded with secluded swims.

The lake features islands, shallows and lily pads during summer months. Each swim offers countless features and the margins should not be overlooked. The swims opposite the snags at the top of the woods usually produce carp with multiple catches a realistic target from most swims. Decent bags of coarse fish are commonplace as the fishery is well stocked with most coarse species.

Species
The Society has controlled Bolesworth since 1976 resulting in a first class mixed coarse fishery. The water holds carp, tench, bream, crucians, roach, rudd and eels. Carp seem to dominate most catches especially through the summer months.
